BioHarvey Dent overcame the trials of his youth -- an abusive father, undiagnosed schizophrenia (including a delusion that the outcomes of dice and coin-tosses could predict the future) -- through strict discipline and a strong fixation on the concepts of law and order, and went on to become a noted lawyer in his hometown of Gotham City.
Noted enough that he even received an offer from California, asking him to go cross-country for a consultation with a potential client. He wouldn't usually have traveled so far from home, but for the money they were offering, and covering all travel expenses besides, it was hard to refuse.
Tragic, how that ended. The train in flames, and everyone aboard dead. Presumed dead. Harvey, as it turns out, was recovered from the wreckage by agents of Santa Francesca Romana, albeit with horrific injuries. He was half-healed, and told that no more was possible -- and not only that, but what was done would reverse itself over time, and he would have to stay in the employ of Pricus, in order to not die a slow, painful death by infection.
That's where he is now, working for SFR and Helen Pricus in a legal and prophetic capacity, in exchange for his life. His mind has... fragmented, a bit, but his powers are still intact, and the guidance of his coin is all he needs.
